A PUPCAKE RECIPE & 9 YEARS OF BLADE

Blade is 9 today! It only makes sense to have a silly little dog birthday party when they are such a cherished member of the family, right?! Every year we do something fun and it has only gotten more silly over the years as Zeppy has gotten older and loves having a Blade party. The first thing he did this morning was sing happy birthday to Blade, gave him a big hug and then asked me where are all the presents? ha. Every year we either make some sort of pupcake, dog cookies or grill him a steak. Extravagant? Maybe. But we love him and he deserves to be celebrated. He was our first baby after all. He’s seen us through so many big moments over this last nine years, highlights include being at our wedding and welcoming his little brother home from the hospital. He is so special to us, brings us all a lot of laughs. He’s a loyal friend and protector, the best biggest cuddler and the goofiest boy. We love you Blade dog!

Cake:
1 c. Flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 egg
2 tbsp coconut oil
1/4 c peanut butter
1 mashed banana
1/2 c. milk

Frosting:
1/2 c. non-fat greek yogurt (preferably low sugar)
1/4 c/ peanut butter

Preheat the oven to 350. Combine the flour and baking soda then set aside. Mix the oil, peanut butter and banana in a separate bowl until creamy. Add the egg, then flour mixture until well combined. Slowly add in the milk. Using a round cake pan, pour the mixture into the pan and bake for approximately 25-30 minutes. For the frosting, mix the peanut butter and yogurt until it’s fluffy and well combined. Once the cake is cooled completely, add the frosting. Your pup will thank you!
